We've made some exciting changes to the parent volunteer experience this year: we want to invite parents to volunteer when they want and how they want, with an ask of 2.5 hours per parent.  We hope this flexibility and clarity makes it easy for all of you to engage in a way that is meaningful and fits within your schedule. Sign up through our centralized PTC portal where all volunteer opportunities will be shared. 

To make this easier and more enjoyable, we’ve introduced some changes:

• Reserved Parking: Get a spot in the parking lot when volunteering for challah delivery, carline, and lunch during the time you volunteer. Just tell security at the gate.

• Shorter Lunch Duty: Now just one hour. Consider signing up on your child’s birthday or invite a grandparent!

• Carline Volunteering with your Lower School student(s): Adults can help our youngest students get out of their car while LS students can walk them to their classrooms.

• Single Signup Link: There will be a single signup link for all volunteering opportunities and monthly “asks” but feel free to sign up as far in advance as you like.

• Fun Themes: Optional themes for volunteers throughout the year, such as 80s month or Purim costumes.

• Appreciation and Competitions: Occasional volunteer appreciation events and friendly grade-level competitions.

For those new to volunteering at BZ, below is an overview of the ways you can get involved. You can also visit the PTC Resources page for a full list of the volunteer committees and descriptions:

• Carline Helpers: Weekdays, 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Help students exit cars and escort younger ones to class.

• Lunchroom Helpers: Monday - Thursday, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Serve soup or cut fruit for SK through 5th-grade students. 

• Challah Delivery: Typically Fridays, 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Deliver challah with your EC student(s)- a perfect volunteer experience for younger siblings.

• Library Reshelving: Help reshelve books in a quiet setting (details coming soon).

• One-off Opportunities: Events like the Book Fair, Book Swap, and Special Friends’ Day. Details to come.
