Participate in Creating Blessing Bags for the Homeless on Sunday, November 6
PTC Yad b'Yad Committee
The Yad B’Yad PTC Committee is partnering with Project I Am to create Blessing Bags benefiting the patrons of the Common Pantry. Common Pantry meets the emergency needs of our local community by providing support to help overcome poverty-related challenges.
Come join us on Sunday, November 6 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at Chi Che Wang Park to create the Blessing Bags and build awareness of homelessness in and around the Chicagoland area. The Founder of Project I Am, Jahkil Naeem Jackson, will be on the field cheering us on and telling the BZ community more about his mission and the organization that he started at the age of 8 years old. A representative from Common Pantry will also be there to talk about their goals in the community. Kids can change the world; and our community can help… one blessing bag at a time.
We are asking every family that attends to please bring enough items to create a minimum of 2 blessing bags (feel free to make more as well). Please bring the following items to put into the Blessing Bag (a gallon size Ziploc bag or any bag you choose):
  • Socks
  • Deodorant
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Granola bars
  • Antibacterial wipes
  • Gloves
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Bottled water
  • Masks enclosed in plastic
  • Hand/foot warmers
Together we will create cards with messages of hope (i.e. “stay healthy” or “bless you”). We will have the materials to make the cards. Please email Diane Welbel at dianeherbstman@gmail.com with any questions.
*If you are unable to attend the event and still want to participate in our annual blessing bags collection, please create blessing bags with your family and bring them to BZ on Monday, November 7 in the morning at drop-off or afternoon at pick-up. There will be bins at BZ to collect the bags.
