This morning, our entire school celebrated Israel’s 75th birthday with a Yom HaAtzmaut assembly. We welcomed the Deputy Consul General of Israel to Chicago, Dr. Daniel Aschheim and his family, and were then led by our 7th graders with the raising of the Israeli flag. After the ceremony, students visited the Shuk (Israeli market), sang and danced for Israelvision (a take on Eurovision with Israeli songs) and designed floats for our 75th parade based on different aspects about Israel. During a schoolwide lunch, we connected with our 8th graders in Israel, who celebrated the holiday with dancing and silly string in the streets of Tel Aviv. This is a day filled with joy and ruach (spirit) which left our students feeling full of pride and excitement for Israel!
