Ms. Levich, Lower School Jewish Studies Teacher
Our first and second graders are joyfully preparing to celebrate Rosh Hashanah!
Recently, our second graders participated in a Shofar Factory workshop, where each child crafted their very own shofar. They were excited to craft them and thrilled to try using them. Additionally, our new Hebrew program, Niflaot, is helping students engage in natural conversations in Hebrew. We are currently working on fun, introductory skits, and everyone is fully engaged and eager to learn. We also baked honey cakes for our students to take home and share with their families!
In first grade, students have been learning lots of new Hebrew vocabulary, and each child can now write and recognize their name in Hebrew. We've been practicing Rosh Hashanah words and discussing the special items needed for the holiday table. The first graders are also preparing to bake round challah and create Rosh Hashanah blessing cards. They are looking forward to the celebration!
As a special project, all lower school students created beautiful blessing cards for Israeli families with children currently on active duty.
Shanah Tovah Umetukah! May you have a good and sweet new year!
