⭐️ Student Council Year in Review!
Ms. Gorsky, Middle School Learning Specialist
The 2024-2025 Student Council had a busy, fun, and inspiring year. This group of 20 middle schoolers met every Monday during lunch (and sometimes recess), dedicating themselves to improving their school community, their city, and the world.
The large contingent of eighth-grade students truly led the way. Their ability to model teamwork and collaboration for the younger students was on full display during every meeting. They kept the group moving, took decisive action, and consistently strove to be the voice of Bernard Zell students.
We successfully fundraised for organizations supporting the California wildfires, the Israeli Children’s Fund, Anti-Cruelty, The Ark Chicago, Project Innerspace, and Partners in Health. We also took the first important steps toward establishing annual traditions at Bernard Zell, including the Hanukkah Tamchui event. This event successfully bridged all three divisions and encouraged students to be informed and active participants in the process of tikun olam. Additionally, we began planning another school-wide event that we hope to bring to Bernard Zell in the near future, designed to motivate Eagles of all ages to engage in service and unite for a common cause.
To Mischa, Lila, Aviva, Dalia, Brynn, Taylor, Emile, Zoe, Bonnie, Jay, Maddie, Jack, Henry, Stella, Eden, Noa, Hannah, Henna, Abby, and Abbey: thank you for your commitment and your spirit. Student Council is stronger than ever, and we are excited about the future at Bernard Zell.
