✏️ Motivated Middle School Students Lead Student Council
Kate Gorsky, 7th and 8th Grade Learning Specialist, 7th Grade Advisor, Student Council Advisor
The Bernard Zell Student Council is comprised of 28 energetic middle school students across all four grades. During the fall, these students attended a learning session to hear about the goals of this voluntary group. Now, they are actively developing as engaged citizens of the school community, the city, and the world. They truly strive to live the Jewish value of tikkun olam (repairing the world).
One of the Council’s goals for the year was to plan an event that focused primarily on our BZ community. They are actively planning school-wide activities to launch a "No Place for Hate Campaign" through the ADL. More information about this will be on the way soon, as will our annual hot chocolate sale.
During our annual fall bake sale, students led and worked together on committees such as philanthropy, budget, public relations, and logistics. They collaborated with each other to plan the event from start to finish, and ultimately raised money for an Israeli organization selected by the philanthropy committee, Bayit Cham
