The Class of 2022 Presents:
The Morton Reisman Operetta: Shrek Jr. Thursday, March 24, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 27, 2:00 p.m.
The Class of 2022 has been busy at work since January rehearsing for the return of the Morton Resiman operetta. In addition to learning the choreography, music and staging for Shrek Jr., they have also been creating all of the techinical elements that will give the musical that special "magic touch." From coordinating over 75 costumes to building a tower out of wood, each of the 7 technical crews spend hours each week brainstorming and creating through trial and error what will look the best onstage.
Eighth grade student Lauren R. says, "the hardest part of being on the Wig/Hair crew is making sure that everything will work when people have to switch parts during the show [some students play up to 3 roles in the show]. The most fun part is testing the ideas.”
For example, today the Hair/Wig crew worked with Shrek's bald cap to attach the ears and see what paint or makeup worked the best to match his beautiful pigmented skin. Lauren says she joined the crew "because I like designing wigs and making them look realistic.” Although the show is still over a month away, our 8th graders are truly making magic in school every day as they bring Shrek Jr. to life!
More information regarding in-person attendance will be forthcoming and a shareable recording will be made available to our community following the performance.
