Second Grade Casts Their Ballots for Best Book of the Year
Tommy Grogan, 2nd Grade Teacher

For the last month at Bernard Zell, 2nd-grade students have been learning about the United States Election and how citizens choose candidates to be the President of the United States. The students created their own election by reading eight different children's books and then set up two "parties" to elect the best book from each party.

They held their own caucus on the Field of Dreams to find the winner of the "purple party" and the winner of the "yellow party." Next week, they will cast their ballots (either in person or "by mail") to elect the best book of the year. Be sure to ask any 2nd grader about their own election experience and to find out who will win the Best Book of the Year election!
