๐ŸŒˆ Creating Community within our Classroom
Ms. Raisher, 3rd Grade General Studies
Community is such an integral part of a Bernard Zell education, and creating one within the classroom is a wonderful way to kick off our year of learning about different communities within the Chicagoland area. Later this year we will focus on the various cultures that live within our diverse city, embracing our grade-level Jewish value of V’ahavta L’rayecha Ka’mocha (Love Your Neighbor). At the moment, we are staying closer to home, focusing on our unique personalities as well as common interests that connect us within our classroom.
Each member of room 204 gathered photographs and symbols that helped tell their story. While being introduced to Google Slides, they created and verbally presented about themselves. This not only taught them to use a new form of technology that will be integrated into future projects, but it also allowed the students to express themselves and share what makes each individual special. Their classmates asked thoughtful questions and showed genuine interest in learning more about their peers. Expanding our knowledge about each other helps spark conversations and builds relationships within the classroom.
