We are thrilled to wrap up another fabulous year of the Madrichim (ambassadors) Club at Bernard Zell! We're so proud of the 57, 7th and 8th grade students who made their mark on our community. What exactly does a student ambassador do at Bernard Zell? The role of the Madrichim is to provide guidance to prospective families at Bernard Zell admissions events, be school advocates in the community, and most importantly, acquire a skill set along the way that will help them grow into future leaders of the Jewish community and beyond.

Madrichim engage in leading prospective parent school tours, helping plan Open House events, creating packages for new and prospective students, and so much more. For families of prospective students, there is no one better than a current student to speak about their meaningful experience. Each year, we survey new families to ask what aspects of the admissions process impacted their decision to choose Bernard Zell, and overwhelmingly their responses are consistently because of the Madrichim.

Lincoln, 8th Grade

In 7th grade, I was given the opportunity to become a tour guide in the Madrichim Club. It was a wonderful way to practice public speaking and holding eye contact with prospective parents. To get into the club, I also got to work on my interviewing skills, which helped me a lot for high school applications. My tour guide partner and I would give a 20-minute tour of the Dream Space, where I got to show people around and share my favorite memories. Every time I walked down that hallway, I would remember different happy moments from my Bernard Zell experience. I just hope that the kids of the prospective parents will have as special of an experience as I did.

Reese, 7th Grade

This year, being in the Madrichim Club has had a very positive impact on me. I had many opportunities to be an event leader for prospective parents and help them learn more about the school. By helping with events, I gained confidence in talking to adults about my experience at Bernard Zell. This skill will help me in many ways throughout my life.

Not only did I help lead events for prospective families, but I also helped with events for current BZ families. There, I connected with younger students, and seeing them at school always makes me happy.

My goal is for prospective parents to leave their Open House events wanting their children to come to BZ. Maybe one day, their children will get to join the Madrichim Club when they are in 7th grade and be able to help the school just like others helped them.

Being in Madrichim has made me feel like I have truly left a positive mark on this school, and I am very grateful that I have been able to help.
