Greetings Eagles,

The fall season is off to a great start! We began practices on the second day of school, Tuesday, August 30, with over 60 Bernard Zell fall student-athletes. Our girls volleyball program has its highest-ever turnout with 43 girls playing this fall and we welcome 25 soccer players to the program. For the first time ever, Bernard Zell has a cross country team!

Practices thus far have been dedicated to building fundamental skills, improving court/field awareness and knowledge, and preparing for games. A huge thank you to our fall coaching staff for their hard work in creating detailed and efficient practice plans during our pre-season portion of the schedule. 

Games began last week for both the 7th and 8th grade girls volleyball teams as well as our 6th and 7th grade soccer teams. The Varsity Girls' volleyball team got their season off to a hot start, defeating Lycee Francais in three sets in their home opener. Earlier this week the 7th graders won their first game on the road versus Near North Montessori.

We are thrilled to announce our first-ever Bernard Zell Cross Country team. Eight student-athletes committed to the team, joining Coach Melton on lakefront-runs while preparing for their three upcoming meets (September 28, 29 and October 6). Good luck to all our runners next week in their first meet.
