Karen Leavitt, Head of Lower School
Dear Lower School Parents,
By all definitions, this 2020-21 school year has been the most unpredictable time in recent memory. Considering that adults and students alike are hard-wired to find uncertainty stressful, it is no small feat that we have successfully completed our year together. And we didn’t just make it though—we grew tight-knit communities, completed curricula and innovated new programming! I feel quite certain we can attribute these accomplishments to our extraordinary family partnerships and teamwork. Working together with you has made it possible for our students to feel safe and cared for, even amid these precarious times. So, in this final communication for the year, I would like to very simply say “thank you.” Your support has been absolutely integral to the success of our program and has enabled tremendous personal and academic growth for your children. It has been my absolute pleasure working alongside you this year, and I can not wait to embark on a fresh, new year together in the fall.
And our heroes of the year, our Lower School teaching team, deserve all the credit we can possibly bestow! They truly made the seemingly impossible a reality. We are eternally grateful for the selfless, dedicated, talented and tenacious teachers who really earned a badge of honor this year!
From all of us in Lower School, we wish you a relaxing and rejuvenating summer. Please continue to prioritize reading of any kind over the summer. All types of reading and listening bring value and will set your students up for success at the start of next year. During the summer months, you can expect some communication from me about important summer happenings and updates.
We will be anxiously awaiting your arrival back to school in August!
