Climate Action Projects Presented on Climate Action Night – Tuesday, March 11

To help students process the realities of climate change and develop the innovative, creative skills needed to combat its effects, climate change education must be paired with climate action. Students need the tools to invent their own solutions to climate-related challenges and the confidence to share these solutions with the world. Through the design thinking process, they become agents of change, learning that they have the power to make a difference.
On Tuesday, March 11, our 8th grade students will showcase their Climate Action Projects, each of which is rooted in and guided by one of our core Jewish values. This is a wonderful example of how academic excellence, real-world application, and Jewish values seamlessly come together. Our 8th graders are leading the way toward a more sustainable future for our planet.

Mifgash – Welcoming Visitors from Kiryat Gat (March 12–19)

Mifgash Chaverim - friends coming together - is the name of our annual exchange program, during which we welcome a group of Israeli 8th grade students and teachers into our school community. This year, we are excited to host 12 students and two teachers from Kiryat Gat. The program is made possible with the support of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.
Our visiting students will stay with 8th grade families, allowing them to form meaningful connections and feel at home while they are so far from Israel. Our 8th grade parents have planned an exciting itinerary, including a Chicago Wolves game and sightseeing around the city. Additionally, the visiting students will spend time in various classes at Bernard Zell, further strengthening the bonds between our communities. We can't wait to welcome them!
There’s never a dull moment in 8th grade—up next: Operetta!
