🎨 7th Grade & SK 108 Art Class Buddies Design Creative Comic Strips Together!
Shana Ryback, Lower School Art Teacher and Gili Sherman, Middle School Art Teacher
This semester’s 7th Grade Arts Exploration class, World of Comix, has been a deep dive into character creation and comic strip storytelling across a variety of topics. Most recently, the 7th graders presented their knock-knock joke comic strips to the SK 108 students during art class. Much laughter and camaraderie ensued as the older students shared their comics and listened to the jokes the younger students had prepared.
Afterward, the 7th graders guided the SK-ers in creating their own comic strip characters, working together to develop narratives for these new creations.
In our most recent Arts Exploration lesson, the 7th graders used Model Magic to design and paint 3D versions of the characters the SK-ers had drawn. The next step will be to research appropriate settings and use Adobe Express’s green screen feature to embed the 3D characters into scenes that connect to the younger students’ stories. The 7th graders will present these comic strip narratives at a final meetup before the end of the school year.
We hope you enjoy these images of collaborative learning and the warm connections between our older and younger students!
