Dear Bernard Zell Families,
As we begin to look toward the 2023-24 school year, we wanted to give you the opportunity to provide information, via our Divisional Parent Reflection Forms, that might help us with your child's class placement next year. This optional form is an excellent place for you to share feedback regarding your child’s experience this past year, as well as to suggest those children who you consider to be positive learning or social partners for your child and who may provide comfort during the transition.
You can be assured that we will group children together in a way that creates strong learning and social/emotional environments for all. As part of this process, we will be consulting with classroom teaching teams from the current school year to assist us with placements as they know your child best. Division Heads will consult with each other for those students who will be moving divisions for the 2023-24 school year.
If you would like to complete a form, please log into BZ Connect and submit one form for each of your currently enrolled children. You will notice a notification at the top that alerts you that you have a form available. If you are a parent of a sibling who will begin their journey at Bernard Zell next school year, you will receive a similar form that is specifically for our new to BZ students. Forms must be submitted by Friday, May 12 to be considered. This is a firm date and we appreciate your cooperation.
As a reminder, we do not consider parent requests for teachers. All of our Bernard Zell educators are compassionate and dedicated to their craft. As you think about students who your child might find comforting to have in their next year's classroom, please include at least six names to allow us to ensure your child is with at least one of these friends in their EC or LS class or MS Gibush.
Our goal over the course of your child's Bernard Zell experience is to allow all students to get to know each other, to recognize all of their classmates for the special and unique qualities they possess, and to build a community of kindness and kavod (respect).
Warmly,
Abby Aloni, Head of Early Childhood
Karen Leavitt, Head of Lower School
Dani Steele, Interim Head of Middle School
