Dear Lower School Families,

As we come to the close of another incredible year, I keep finding myself thinking about all of the moments that made this community shine. Joyful celebrations, performances, projects, and everyday acts of kindness filled our year with Simchah (joy), Teshuvah (growth), V’ahavta l’rei'echa kamocha (loving our neighbor), and Hachnasat Or’chim (welcoming guests).

To our 1st graders: what a journey this has been! At the start of the year, everything felt new: new classrooms, new Enrichment Clusters, new Shabbat tables, and even new bathrooms! Now, you move through Lower School with confidence and pride. You also became experts on books, creatures, and the wind. Most importantly, you learned how to grow your friendships, make new ones, and bring Simchah into your classrooms.

Second graders: this was a year of tremendous growth. You took on new challenges with determination and enthusiasm, especially as your Hebrew skills blossomed in exciting ways. You became the leaders in Tefillah and received your first siddurim (prayer books), showing so much Teshuvah along the way. 

Third graders: you are a small, but mighty grade. Throughout your studies, you reminded all of us what it means to truly live by V’ahavta l’rei'echa kamocha. You met each other’s family members and asked meaningful questions, as they shared their immigration stories with you. You learned about art, history, and stories from around the world, all while celebrating one another’s strengths through your amazing WIBA presentations.

And to our 4th graders: you have led Lower School by example with maturity and warmth. While our 1st graders joined new Enrichment Clusters and Shabbat tables, you welcomed them, cared for them, and showed them the ropes. You gathered under your chuppah, surrounded by your teachers and families, as we celebrated your many accomplishments. As you prepare for Middle School, I hope you recognize how much you have contributed to this community. 

I am immensely grateful for the care of our wonderful teachers and families in making this such a meaningful year through partnership and communication. Wishing you all a summer full of good memories!
