Hanukkiah making is in full swing! The children explored with loose parts and built their ideas before gluing them down to make their Hanukkiahs. The panning and tinkering phase is crucial as it allows children to “think with their hands” and form ideas about their final design. They also brought in Hanukkiahs from home to display in the class and those have served as a major inspiration for their own designs and a few students first sketched their ideas before getting to work on construction. Most chose to glue tile and wood pieces together, while some made their Hanukkiahs out of clay. They plan to display all of the Hanuukiahs next week before winter break!
