Fifth-Grade Scientists Build and Code Paper Circuits
  • Academics
Deanna McBeath, Middle School Science Teacher

Fifth-grade scientists are learning about electricity by building paper circuits using coin cell batteries, copper tape and LEDs. Next, students will use the coding platform Microsoft Makecode to program their circuits using the Chibi Chip microcontroller. Their paper circuits will become mini-storybooks telling cause-and-effect stories about great transitions in the history of life on Earth, such as the evolution of walking fish or the asteroid impact that killed the dinosaurs!
