The month of Shevat is almost here and that means that the holiday of Tu B’Shevat is around the corner. In 2nd grade, students have begun learning about this wonderful Jewish holiday which celebrates the trees and recognizes their importance to the world.

Connecting their learning with the value of tikkun olam, this Monday they had a special guest visitor from the SCARCE organization who came and spoke with the students about the 3 R’s (reduce, reuse, and recycle). They were amazed to learn about the creative ways you can reduce, reuse and recycle everyday products. At the end of the workshop, each student got to reuse material to create their own piece of paper! Everyone had a wonderful time and they all agreed it was a great learning experience.
