🍷 LS & MS Families: Likrat Shabbat at Bernard Zell | RSVP for Head Table Dates
Emily Crane, Head of Middle School and Rachel Silverberg, Head of Lower School
Dear BZ Lower and Middle School Families,
We hope this message finds you well and you had a meaningful and restful summer break. As we wrapped up an exciting and joyful first week back, we want to share some updates and information regarding Likrat Shabbat, our BZ Shabbat celebration, which takes place each Friday during lunch. Friday’s ruach (spirit)-filled Shabbat celebration was full of song, community building, and the comfort in being back together. We look forward to welcoming you to join us in the coming months.
One of the highlights of Shabbat lunch is our unique mishpachot (family groups). Students from 1st through 8th grade are seated with the same faculty member(s) and the same group of multi-grade students throughout their tenure at school. This setup allows students to build lasting relationships with peers across different grades and to connect with their teachers in a relaxed, informal setting, making every Shabbat meal a special occasion.
We are also thrilled to continue inviting families into our kehillah (community) to join us for Shabbat lunch at various times throughout the school year. Each family is welcome to join us for a Head Table Shabbat experience as a grade-level on the dates listed below. We encourage you to bring up to two guests to join your child to sing, eat, and warmly welcome Shabbat. The dates can be found below.
We hope you will discuss the significance of the Shabbat lunch tradition with your child to support their school experience and educational and spiritual development. If you have any questions about Shabbat lunch or would like to learn more, please feel free to reach out.
We look forward to a wonderful school year filled with joy, learning, and the cherished experience of Shabbat lunch.
