Tiyul '26 Blog | Day Five | Venice to Rome
Reid P.
Today we traveled from Venice to Rome via train. We woke up at 5:15 a.m., put our bags on the boat and then proceeded to eat breakfast. After breakfast we walked over to the boat that was waiting to take us to the train station in Venice. The boat ride to the train station was around half an hour. When we got to the train station we had about 20 minutes to shop for snacks and drinks.
The first train ride to Padlova took about 30 minutes. When the train pulled into the station it was a rush to get off the train with all our bags. We had to get to the next platform quickly as we were already running late for our train to Rome. That train ride took 3 hours during which most people played cards, talked, and of course slept.
Before we knew it we were on the bus to the hotel, where we dropped off our bags and headed to the ghetto for lunch. After lunch we took a nice walk back to the hotel to get ready for Shabbat services and dinner. Spending Shabbat in Rome was a surreal experience because of the thousands of years of Jewish history in Rome.
