SK107 Furthers Their Understanding of Identity and Race
Rachel Ahitow & Kaitlyn McKenna, SK108 Teachers

To further their understanding of identity and race, SK108 students read the book Let’s Talk about Race. In this book, the author shares his own story as he explores what makes each of us special. This book helps children learn, grow, discuss and begin to create a future that resolves conflict over racial differences.

Alumni Spotlight: Simon Goldman '15

For Simon Goldman (Bernard Zell Class of 2015), the college experience he envisioned and the college experience he’s living are two vastly different worlds. But despite a sudden change in his plans resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, he’s taken it all in stride and continues to push forward with his work as a fashion design student at New York’s Pratt Institute.

BZ Joins Jewish Youth Climate Movement
Beth Sanzenbacher, Science Instructional Leader

We are very proud to announce that Bernard Zell is now an official member of the Jewish Youth Climate Movement! JYCM is dedicated to mitigating climate change by empowering young people, mobilizing our communities and taking action. JYCM believes in using Jewish values as a motivation to create a more equitable and sustainable world for all.

Yad B'Yad Event: Lakeview Pantry Stock the Shelves
Yad B'Yad Committee

Please join Yad b’Yad this Thursday and Friday to fill the Lakeview Pantry shelves this holiday season. Volunteers will be at morning drop-off to collect your non-perishable items. Our goal is to collect over 500 items – one item per child in the school. The most needed items are canned fruit, canned vegetables, oatmeal, peanut butter and canned tuna.

    • Attend Grandparent and Special Friend programs! We host a number of different events throughout the year, culminating in our Special Friends' Week.
    • Share your contact information with us to stay up-to-date on the school and special events just for our grandparents and special friends.
    • Tour the school, visit the classrooms and experience Bernard Zell in action.
    • Volunteer in our lunchroom or library. Share your wisdom and expertise as a guest speaker in the classroom.
