Mazel Tov to the Bernard Zell Class of 2017!
On the evening of Wednesday, June 2, the Bernard Zell Class of 2017 returned to campus for a very special senior send-off. Along with their family and former BZ teachers, these college-bound alumni got a chance to catch up and reconnect on a beautiful evening on the Field of Dreams. For many of these alums, it was their first time seeing the new building in person and for even more of them, it was their first time seeing their former classmates in person in over a year due to pandemic restrictions.
This incredible group of students concluded their high school careers in unusual circumstances but look forward to a return to normal this fall as they head off to some of the following colleges and universities:
Carleton College
University of Chicago
University of Denver
Elon University
Indiana University
University of Michigan
Northeastern University
University of Pennsylvania
University of Texas-Austin
Tufts University
Tulane University
Washington University
University of Wisconsin
We send the entire class of 2017 a hearty mazel tov on their high school graduation and wish them only the best of luck as they head off to begin an exciting new chapter in their lives!

Alumni Spotlight: BZ Alum Attend Alexander Muss HS in Israel
Founded in 1972, Alexander Muss High School in Israel is a pluralistic, college prep study abroad program for high schoolers in the city of Hod HaSharon. Currently, Bernard Zell alumni Gabi Josephson, Maya Cohen and Mollie Dubner are participating in this incredible experience. Gabi writes about the adventure below:
A little over a month ago, I boarded a plane for Israel along with about 70 other kids. After months of this program being delayed, we were finally getting the chance to go to Alexander Muss High School in Israel. Following two weeks in bidud (quarantine), I finally got to travel through Israel and have been able to learn more about Jewish history. During the past few weeks, I have visited sites such as Tel Megiddo, Mount Gilboa, Masada and Ben Guvrin. I have also spent time in Jerusalem, Haifa and Hod Hasharon, which is where my campus is located. Exploring Israel has been such an incredible experience and I have been able to make new friends from all over the US. The tiyulim (trips) we have gone on have allowed me to bond with new people so quickly. I already know that the friends I have made here will last a long time.

I'm so excited to have found Alexander Muss High School in Israel and to have gotten the incredible experience to study abroad.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Bernard Zell often says that it's more important that we focus on who students become, rather than what they become.

We asked four current students what they wanted to be when they grew up and matched them with four Bernard Zell alums in their field. Watch the video below that premiered at our 2021 Annual Fundraiser, Thursday Night Live: Zoom through the Decades in March.
