Bernard Zell Students Celebrate Shabbat with Ruach

From Dr. Alyson Horwitz

Bernard Zell is not a place just to send your child to school. It's a place to transform them--and you. It's a warm, inclusive community that welcomes families to become engaged partners in the lifelong education of children and community.

Thus, we are so gratified to again welcome head tables to our weekly Likrat Shabbat. Being a member of a Shabbat table is a defining aspect of the Bernard Zell experience for our students and as the circle of community becomes larger they can share this special moment with their families. Parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles are just some of the family members that have built new memories at our Shabbat head table. The sense of ruach (spirit) is always evident throughout Likrat Shabbat every Friday.

SK Learns to Illustrate and Critique

SK launched the school year by learning all about each other through various discussions and activities. One such discussion revolved around the homes in which we live. Each student tried to visualize standing in front of their house and sketch what they saw in their heads.

Nursery Learns Kehillah

The Nursery classrooms have been working hard to learn, explore, and experience their classroom kehillah. Kehillah is the Hebrew word for community. It is the focus on a group of people who share in the mitzvah of taking care of one another, as well as partaking in the joy of their celebrations.
