Issue 9: December 21 8th-grade basketball players took on their favorite faculty members during the 21st annual student vs. faculty basketball game! Students look forward for a chance to win bragging rights during this friendly competition each year as the entire school cheers them on. Teachers to Participate in BZ University
On Monday, January 7, our entire faculty will be participating in our first ever BZ University. This professional development opportunity is part of our BZ 2020 strategic plan initiative to ensure continued educational excellence.

1st Grade Expemplifies Tikkun Olam
On Day of Service in November, 1st graders made crayons and thank you notes for volunteers of Open Books. The students were so excited to finally deliver the crayons and notes, as well as all the books they brought in to donate.

Yad B'Yad at Share Our Spare
On December 9, 26 Bernard Zell community members volunteered through the PTC Yad B' Yad committee at Share Our Spare where they sorted inventory donations and made clothing bundles for children.
Students Practice Computer Skills During Hour of Code
Students in SK-4th grade participated in Hour of Code, which took place during Computer Science Education Week. Hour of Code is a global effort of over 10 million students worldwide working to increase literacy about computer programming.

We are proud to congratulate Lonnie Nasatir who has been named President-Elect of the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago! Lonnie is a valued member of the Bernard Zell community as a Trustee and parent of both current students and an alumna.
